The fine print

Terms of service.

Last updated: 7 August 2026

These are the terms for using warblepop and ordering a song. We've written them in plain English on purpose. If anything's unclear, email [email protected] and a human will answer.

What we do

Warblepop creates privately commissioned songs about real people, based on interviews, stories and creative direction agreed with you. Depending on the edition, a commission can also include artwork, printed material, a reveal film, family voice recordings and a hand-cut record. Each commission is a one-off service - no subscription.

Consultation, proposal and payment

  • A consultation request is free and does not commit either of us to a commission.
  • After we speak, we send you the agreed edition, creative scope, price, estimated schedule and any delivery costs in writing.
  • The commission begins when you accept that proposal and pay the stated reservation payment. It is credited towards the total price, not an additional fee.
  • The balance and physical-delivery arrangements follow the schedule in your proposal. We never add optional charges without your clear agreement.

Creation, refinement and delivery

  • We agree the song's subject, emotional direction and broad musical character after the story interview.
  • We refine that agreed song with you until it feels right. There is no arbitrary revision count.
  • A substantially new story, recipient, song or creative direction is outside that promise. If the scope changes, we pause and agree any new timing or cost before continuing.
  • Your written proposal contains the estimated digital and physical delivery dates. Hand-cut records and bespoke print take longer than the digital master. If a material delay arises, we tell you promptly and agree a sensible solution.

Changing your mind

A UK consumer will normally have 14 days to cancel a service contract made at a distance. We normally wait before beginning creative work unless you ask us in writing to start sooner. If you ask us to begin during that period and then cancel, we may charge a fair proportion for work already supplied. If the service has been completed in full after your express request and acknowledgement, the statutory cancellation right may end.

Physical pieces are made specifically from your song, names, photographs and stories. Once their production begins, personalised goods cannot normally be cancelled merely because you changed your mind. This does not affect your rights if anything is faulty, damaged, not as described or not made with reasonable care and skill. Tell us promptly and we will repair, replace, re-supply or refund as the law requires.

What you give us

  • Only share details about someone that you're comfortable being sung about. You're responsible for having the right to share what you send us.
  • Only send photographs, voice messages and other material you have permission to use for this private gift. Contributors must know why their material is being collected.
  • Don't ask for songs that are hateful, harassing, or unlawful. We'll decline and refund those.
  • If it's a sensitive occasion, tell us the tone - we'll match it.

Your song and how you can use it

  • Once delivered and paid for, you receive a permanent personal-use licence: download it, play it at the celebration, and share it privately with friends and family.
  • The licence is for personal, non-commercial use. Want to use a song commercially (ads, paid content, resale)? Email us first - see our for businesses page.
  • We may showcase anonymised samples on the site; we won't feature your song publicly without asking you.

Payment

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. The current guide prices are shown on the commission page; the written proposal you accept is the final price for the agreed scope.

Share links

Delivered songs get a private share link (and QR code). Anyone with the link can listen, so share it with the people you mean to. Ask us if you ever want one turned off.

The boring-but-necessary bits

  • We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
  • We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top tells you when. Material changes apply to orders placed after the change.
  • Questions, complaints, refunds: [email protected].
